An IoPP Certified Packaging Professional (iopp.org), Wendy Jedlicka, CPP, is president of Jedlicka Design Ltd., working in print and packaging since the early 1980s, coupled with eleven years as a retail industry insider. As a design and business strategy vendor, she has served clients such as 3M, Target, Hormel, Anchor Hocking, Toro, and Verbatim. In addition to her design work, Jedlicka is a long-time, and vocal, advocate for sustainable design and business, and writes the regular feature “Sustainability Update” for "Package Design Magazine," is a regular feature columnist for "The Living Principles" (livingprinciples.org), and was contributing editor of two books on sustainable design for Wiley Publishing, "Packaging Sustainability: Tools, Systems and Strategies for Innovative Package Design," and, "Sustainable Graphic Design: Tools, Systems and Strategies for Innovative Print Design" (sustainableinnovation.info). Jedlicka is also a national caliber lecturer and workshop leader sought after to speak on eco-packaging and print design, as well as broader sustainable design and business issues.
As part of her professional outreach efforts, Jedlicka is the United States co-coordinator for the o2 International Network for Sustainable Design (o2.org) as well as Upper Midwest chapter chair (o2umw.org). Working to change minds in higher education, Jedlicka is one of the founding program development team members and faculty for the ground-breaking Sustainable Design Program at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. To help expand these critical ideas into more universal practice, Jedlicka works actively as a curriculum consultant, helping schools and professional groups all over North America develop their programs to include applied sustainability methodologies. Jedlicka started her art training through the Minneapolis Society of Fine Arts experimental youth art program in the late 1960s, continuing on to seek advanced training through high school at Parsons School of Design and the Art Students League in New York. Jedlicka completed her bachelor’s degree in Graphic and Industrial Design at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, and her master’s degree in International Management with a certificate in International Marketing (Focus Areas: Sustainability, Packaging, and Supply Chains) at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
